Squirrel Tails have long been used to create salmon flies. Patterns such as the rusty rat, laxa blue and cosseboom all use Squirrel Tail for the hairwing. Squirrel Tail can also be used to create wings and tails in patterns like the steelhead bee. The natural variegated markings on the tail create a great shellback for scud and backswimmer patterns.
